Making Your Shop More Profitable

In April of 2001 Marsha Albee wrote a newsletter to our vendors about making your shop more profitable. She was the manager of the Craft Gallery for over 10 years and then moved off to Kentucky. she recently moved back to Waco and she has been good enough to help us out some (but not as much as we want. lol) This article was so good back then and still completely relevant today. We thought we would share it with you again. So thanks goes to Marsha, AGAIN!

When making your booth more profitable, here are a few suggestions that will help.

1.  Have a wide range of prices.  When possible offer a complete range of items and prices to choose from.

2.  Merchandise your booth so that when something sells, your booth will still look completely full.

3.  Customers like to walk INTO your booth and shop.  If your floor space is so full that they cannot get INTO your booth, you might want to think about moving your merchandise up to shelves.

4. The more merchandise you have in your booth, the longer the customer will stand in it to see everything.

Some other things to think about we added.

5.  Walk through the store and see which booth jump out at you. Look and see why that booth got your attention! This can be very helpful. This will be covered in other blogs because this cannot be talked about enough.

6.  Remember eye level is the best spot in the WHOLE store and you have eye level in your booth. lol  Try to put your best item and maybe more expensive item at eye level. You only have a short time with the customer so put your best where they cannot miss it! Whether you have women’s clothes, antiques, children’s clothes, home decor, gifts, jewelry or whatever, eye level is GOLD.

We will post some more blogs about displays, colors of booths, pricing, among other fun helpful things to do with your booth.
