Diana's Favorite Waco Brunch, breakfast and lunch Places

Well Ralph is not the only one who has their favorite places to eat. Since I decided to do my own list I came up with Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch places. My criteria is that they are local eateries and that with the exception of two places, I’ve eaten at.

608 Dry Creek Road
(254) 754-9604

Part of the Homestead Heritage community, this is the one place I have not eaten at but have heard so many people recommend it. They serve from fresh natural goods from their farming community and I hear their ice cream is to die for.  Their hours vary by days of the week so I would look at their website to see those hours.

100 N. 6th Street
(254) 756-0396
(downtown close to Magnolia)

1101 Richland Dr.
(driving distance from the Craft Gallery)
(254) 772-3739

Mon-Sat.  6:00-2:00

With two locations in Waco – “Café Cap” as locals call it serves up pancakes as big as your plate with many flavors. They serve a wide variety of lunch items including quiches, wraps and soups.

406 Elm Ave.
(254) 366-0862

Lula Jane’s has quickly become a local favorite.  Located in East Waco, Lula Jane’s specializes in farm to table freshly made food including freshly baked goods.  Check out their website for their daily special.  They always have scones, banana bread, oatmeal, etc. but their daily lunch special is served until it runs out.  My dad’s favorite is the Banana Bread and the Chocolate Chip cookies.  Lulajanes.com

701 S. I-35
(254) 799-5824
Mon-Sat.  8:00-4:00

Collin Street is a family owned and operated bakery in Texas since 1896. The Waco location is not their original which is in Corsicana.  They bake items fresh daily from cookies, breads, cakes, bars, and pies.  They have many choices for all meals but my favorite is either their tuna or Deluxe chicken salad sandwich on their freshly made Pecan bread.   They are also known for their fruit cake.

9110 Jordan Dr.
(254) 235-1251
Mon-Sat.  8:00-8:00
Sun.  9:00-2:00

Brown House specializes in Home Style Southern cooking. They serve classic breakfasts but their cinnamon rolls are big, good and gooey.  Their lunch items include chicken fried steak & chicken tender baskets of which you will have left overs.  Our family loves Sunday lunch and their special Is Pot Roast.

14275 Valley Mills Dr.
(254) 752-2333
Tues-Sat.  10:00-2:00

Started by Lee Bankston (the chef) BMB has a quaint atmosphere inside a game store. (They have games to play while you wait.)  Her specialty is biscuits of course but what she does with and puts on those biscuits that make them special.

1221 N. 15th
 (254) 758-4900

Part of Mission Waco, World Cup is located in an area of Waco undergoing major revitalization. This is another place I have yet to go to but have heard rave reviews from many locals.  Serving specialty coffees and pastries they also have a full breakfast menu as well as an extensive lunch menu.  While you eat you can also shop in their Fair Trade Market.
