Fall is an amazing time of the year. We finally get a reprieve from the hot Texas summers. Football and tailgating become our lives on the weekends, leaves change colors, decorations are plentiful, and pumpkin spiced things are finally acceptable to eat or drink.
For me, all of this signals that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It’s my favorite holiday. I am most definitely the person that gets angry when people start decorating for Christmas on November 1, but I have slowly accepted that I might be the odd one out here. Christmas is great, but I feel like as much as we try, Christmas is about what you are getting under the tree. Thanksgiving is about taking a step back from what you want, and thinking about everything in your life that you are thankful for. Personally, I think this world needs to remember to be thankful just a little bit more often, including myself.
I have made a list of things that scream fall to me, and I will be posting about them throughout the month of September. They are all the things that I feel make me slow down and be thankful for the life I have. I hope that these festive fall ideas help you and your family take a break from the busy lives we all have, and enjoy and be thankful for the life we have.
Go to a Football Game
Some of you might think this is a given, others might roll their eyes and dissmiss the whole post. Truthfully, at one point in my life I would have been rolling my eyes along with them. I can guarantee that my dad will be shocked to see this on any list of mine. There is just something that screams fall about a football game! Maybe it is the tailgating (I do really love food). It could be the loud, screaming fans. It is definitely not the parking. Despite the crowds, I think everyone needs to go to at least one football game each year.
If you only go to one game this year, I recomend homecoming games the most. The whole week is full of fun activities to be a part of. By far, the parades are my favorite. They just have a way of making you feel like you are a part of one big, crazy family. Go to the local high school football games this year. Go to your alma mater’s game (or a Baylor game if you school doesn’t have a football team like mine). I hope that you enjoy what I would consider a quintessential fall activity!
If you need some clothes for you local high school games come by the Craft Gallery. We can get you all decked out in school spirit!
